On the designated weekend of the month, our Baby Dedication Ceremony (for children up to the age of 5-years) takes place during our regular services.  Please be prepared to bring the child or children to be dedicated to the platform area when your name is called.

Why We Dedicate Our Children to the Lord

"Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord."  So They worshipped the Lord there. (1 Samuel 1:28)  In this passage, Hannah is dedicating her son, Samuel, to the Lord, acknowledging that God had given her this child, and at the same time committing to lend (dedicate) her child to the Lord.

At Jubilee South Valley, we dedicate our children to the Lord for the same reasons that Hannah dedicated her child. First of all, it is an acknowledgement that God is the giver of life and that He is the one who has blessed a mother and father with a child.  "Behold, children are a heritage from the Loard, the fruit of the womb is His reward." (Psalm 127:3)

Dedicating children to the Lord also  is a statement by the parents that they are committing their children into the care of the Lord and for service to the Lord. It is the mother's and father's (or the guardian's) proclamation that they will train up the child in the ways of the Lord.  "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6)

When children reach an age where they are able to surrender their own hearts and lives in full commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ, then they may be water baptized in obedience to the Word of God, making a public proclamation and affirmation of the inward work of the Holy Spirit.
